Charlie started as a notebook warrior using a blue Bic pen and a Mead spiral notebook. Born in the Bronx, he attended Catholic school where he found the arts to be the most interesting activity in school. During his teenage years, he started painting murals but lacked wall space and decided to start doing them anywhere he could, with or without permission. After high school, Charlie dove into advertising by day while moonlighting as TRACY168’s apprentice by night. During this time, Charlie learned T168’s version of the graffiti movement history and socialized with other writers that graced the trains in the early 70’s.
Continuing with his doodling over the next years, he’s found time to shrink his art to be produced on canvases, though would rather spend time on walls. His distorted look on reality mixes surrealism and pop culture while retaining his graffiti roots. His work adorns NYC restaurants, mixtape covers, collectors’ black books overseas, and even his son’s room.
